Another major application of hydrogen energy is fuel cells. Based on the development of the domestic industry, there are manufacturers in Taiwan that can provide products for fuel cells from raw materials, fuel cell components to battery systems, and even related peripherals. The Hydrogen Promotion Group has proposed three strategies to promote hydrogen energy in this area:
(a) Promote the development of 100kW high-power, high-voltage hydrogen power module systems, develop hydrogen three-electricity (battery, motor, and electronic control) integration modules, establish a platform for the validation of hydrogen vehicle components and sub-systems, and encourage the participation of non-government enterprises in these endeavors.
Plan for hydrogen fuel cell buses and introduce them into passenger routes for demonstration and validation, so that the technology research and development can actually enter the commercial market and make profits.
Third, for the domestic fixed-type fuel cell energy storage system, the government promotes the installation by policy. In 2022, the Ministry of Economic Affairs revised the "Ministry of Economic Affairs Fixed-type Fuel Cell Power Generation System Installation Subsidy Key Points" to subsidize public and private organizations, legal persons and filed units, for the domestic installation of fixed-type fuel cell power generation system under 500kW, the subsidy of NT$70,000 per kW, so as to let the subsidy become an incentive to increase the installation and to promote the fuel cell system market. The subsidy will serve as an incentive to increase installation and promote the fuel cell system market.
