February_Self-driving ICs|Analysis of Global Self-driving IC Market Development (Part3)
With the development of automated driving technology towards Level 4 and above, the computing power requirements of the processor have increased dramatically, and the introduction of advanced processes has become an inevitable trend, such as Nvidia's Orin, Mobileye's EyeQ6, Tesla's FSD Hardware 4, etc., which are now in mass production of the highest-end automated driving processors are all using the 7/8nm process, and only the Horizon Only Horizon's Journey 5 uses the mature 16nm process to avoid the risk of U.S. sanctions on China's advanced semiconductor processes. Qualcomm's Snapdragon Ride Flex, Nvidia's Thor, Tesla's FSD Hardware 5 and other next-generation automated driving processors are all made on a 4/5nm process, and are mainly produced by TSMC. Usually, the power consumption and heat generation of a processor increase dramatically with the increase in computing power, and the high temperatures generated by poor heat dissipation can lead to a rapid decline in computing power, so the energy efficiency ratio is also a key item to evaluate.
