Industry Trend Report|Grid Opportunities! Taiwan's Power Grid Development in the Next Ten Years (Next)
The future direction of power grid development has been set as three main axes: "Striving for Decentralization", "Continuous Reinforcement" and "Strengthening Defense", which are expected to promote industrial upgrading and bring business opportunities.
In order to solve the problem of insufficient grid resilience, TEPCO reviewed the current problems and officially announced the "Enhanced Grid Resilience Construction Plan" in September 2011, which aims at upgrading the power grid with 3 main axes and 10 aspects (Figure 5), such as "Striving for Decentralization, Continuously Strengthening, and Strengthening Defenses". A total of 564.5 billion NTD will be invested over 10 years to improve the nationwide power grid's ability to respond to emergencies and to prepare for the 2050 net-zero transformation goal. The ultimate goal of this plan is to reduce the incidence of national outages and minimize the area affected by outages, and to eliminate the recurrence of large-scale outages through the independence of regional grid nodes, the enhancement of equipment stability, and the prevention of outages from spreading.
