January_2023 CES Feature|CES 2023: Facing Global Challenges with Gorgeous and Practical Technology

CES 2023 officially concluded on January 8, 2012, and the number of attendees exceeded expectations, attracting more than 115,000 professionals and more than 3,200 exhibitors (including 1,000 start-ups) to participate in the event. This year, for the first time, the theme of the show focused on "Advocating Human Security", which is based on how technology can help the world solve the challenges it faces today. During the exhibition, the latest products, technological innovations and company news that help solve global challenges will be presented. The main theme of the exhibition is "BE IN IT", which focuses on five areas of automotive technology, gaming, digital health, smart home and food technology, as well as 18 technological innovations such as Web3, metaverse, fintech and artificial intelligence (AI).

From the content of this year's exhibition, compared to previous years, the cool future is no longer the only thing to be talked about, and more practicality, profitability, and orientation to solving global issues, such as human security, energy saving, carbon reduction, and sustainable development, have emerged. For example, Dr. Zifeng Su, Chairman/CEO of AMD, unveiled many new AMD products in the Keynote, among which there is a very large and eye-catching server chip with 146 billion transistors stuffed into it, and it also claims to be able to shorten the training time of big models such as ChatGPT and DALL‧E from several months to several weeks, which can save millions of US dollars in electricity cost, and that is to take energy efficiency as the highlight of the topic; Samsung unveiled a lot of practical and profit-oriented solutions, such as human security, energy conservation, carbon reduction and sustainable development. Samsung has launched a number of new products, the main axis of which is also oriented towards sustainable development and smart home issues.

 

車用科技聚焦在提升整合度與駕駛體驗差異化

本屆展會共有逾300家車商參與展出,讓CES 2023嚴然成為全世界規模最大的車展之一。同時看到各式各樣最新的電動車概念與技術解決方案,因此與其說是車展,更像是汽車科技的競技場。很難想像幾乎所有車商都展出了實體車,而我們也慢慢理解了,不是車上的螢幕大一些就稱為智能車,還需建構一套整合的平台以及更人性化的智慧運算;不是大家都在談論電動車就意味著EV將快速成長成為主流,而是需要產品差異、里程焦慮等問題來提升滲透率。

NVIDIA DRIVE在大會上,向大眾展示其更大規模的智慧運輸服務平台之重要里程碑。除了車輛部署計劃外,汽車的人工智慧解決方案也已與車輛設計融為一體。有許多車廠如Volvo EX90、Polestar 3、Lucid Air等已搭載該系統。同時看到與鴻海的合作,加速鴻海「Time To Cost/Market」的策略目標。

在展場中看到許多吸引眼球的實用技術,像是BMW i Vision Dee,不只可以與車輛對話,還可以隨著心情改變車身色彩;Sony 將在2025年上市的AFEELA,導入高通運算平台及自家豐富的娛樂串流,想透過車內服務和娛樂打造更不同的車載體驗系統,搶進電動車市場;福斯ID.7配備15英吋中控螢幕與AR HUD增強現實抬頭顯示功能等。這些都是在電動車成為主流的過程中,廠商瞄準產品差異化的體現。而我們認為內裝顯示系統升級,是最有可能在今年看到實際的商機,像是友達所展出的車用Micro LED顯示技術、大眾控所推的LBS技術的AR HUD等。

同時,我們在展場上也觀察到這次獨立參展的充電樁或車廠充電站建設非常的多,堪稱近年來之最。這也代表著,實用主義當道。賓士預計在美國、加拿大400個地點擴建2500個充電站;美國知名電動車充電設備商 Blink Charging推出二合一的 Vision 充電器,配置兩個 55 吋 LCD 液晶顯示螢幕,有助吸引媒體廣告商投放廣告等。

 

數位健康則是AI應用全面化,以達到小創新大影響

穿戴式電子裝置,結合生理數據的量測已蔚為趨勢,如測量心率、血氧、皮膚溫度變化、步數、卡路里、睡眠、經期追蹤和排卵、至血壓、血糖、尿液等全方位健康照護。今年展覽中,我們看到採用更新穎的AI演算法,在使用場景和需求情境也更細緻化。從過去運動紀錄步數和心律→消息提醒→延伸至健康監測、健康管理甚至預警。如AliveCor KardiaMobile Card檢測防顫並導入AI降低中風發生風險;CZ Smart(Citizen) 開發感知疲勞功能;或Valencell發表手指測量血壓(光電技術),同樣導入AI演算法讓測量更容易更精準。台灣產商方面,醫華生技展出Cell Reveal細胞捕獲和分析系統,通過AI快速有效地識別血液中稀有目標細胞,將癌症檢測縮短到3分鐘。

綜觀CES 2023,展場上依然有著概念性的華麗技術展示,但些微不同的是更多廠商在新產品、新技術的上市或量產時間都比往年提早,許多是明年甚至今年就會上市販售。換言之在華麗技術展現背後,更被重視的是商業的實用性與上市速度。與2023年全球局勢動盪、經濟情況普遍被看壞的消費者、投資者心態不謀而合。

 

CES 2024將於2024年1月9日至12日於美國拉斯維加斯舉行
