As the world's top 10 IC design companies are releasing their Q1 2022 revenues, two U.S.-based companies, Broadcom and Marvell, which focus on applications such as wired networking and data centers, are showing growth.

Broadcom has been affected by the U.S.-China trade war since the beginning of 2019, and the annual growth rate of revenue has been subject to considerable limitations. It is not until after the third quarter of 2020 that the annual growth rate of revenue will begin to pick up, and in the first quarter of 2022, the annual growth rate of revenue will reach 26%.

Broadcom has been playing a leading role in technologies such as wired network chips and PCIe, which are required for data centers and networking infrastructure. As early as at the beginning of 2019, Broadcom has already released the news of PAM-4 fiber optic physical layer transceiver chip with 7nm process, which can significantly save 30% power consumption compared with 16nm process. In April of the same year, Broadcom announced its cooperation with AMD and NVIDIA in the PCIe Gen4 area, thus raising Broadcom's visibility in this technology area. In 2020, Broadcom and TSMC announced a 5nm process-based ASIC platform for data centers and network infrastructures, and at the same time, Broadcom also introduced CoWoS and HBM. CoWoS and HBM2e technologies were also introduced. In 2022, Broadcom will officially release the complete specifications for the 7nm PAM-4 fiber optic physical layer transceiver chip and enter the sales process.
